Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Technician

As part of its commitment to sustainability, Veolia is integrating the Montreal Residual Materials Treatment Plan, which includes the operation and management of the Montreal-East Biomethanation Center. This facility plays a vital role in converting significant amounts of organic waste into biomethane, thereby optimizing organic material recovery from the community.

Job Overview

In this context, Veolia is looking for an Industrial Maintenance Technician. This role involves a variety of responsibilities centered around the upkeep, troubleshooting, repair, and enhancement of mechanical systems within the facility. The technician will engage with production machinery, machine tools, handling equipment, and other mechanical apparatus on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute corrective, preventive, and curative maintenance on all mechanical apparatus in the facility, including systems related to industrial operations, production machinery, and handling equipment.
  • Enhance the reliability, efficiency, and longevity of industrial machinery.
  • Ensure maximum operational availability of machines while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance, replace components, and perform immediate repairs to reduce downtime.
  • Adjust rotating components such as pumps and ventilation systems as necessary.
  • Investigate anomalies, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions or repairs.
  • Assess equipment wear and replace parts when required.
  • Disassemble and reassemble rotating machinery as needed.
  • Perform vibration analysis to identify issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Engage in maintenance activities using the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Interpret technical diagrams and blueprints to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Familiarize with technical manuals to develop and refine maintenance procedures.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of procedures and work instructions related to mechanical responsibilities.
  • Utilize lifting equipment to manage machinery and components on-site.
  • Exhibit versatility and a strong interest in both mechanical functions and overall operational processes.
  • Maintain detailed logs and reports of activities and incidents as required.
  • Supervise subcontractors, ensuring compliance with quality standards and operational requirements.
  • Document subcontractor interventions in the maintenance management system.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Participate in quality, health and safety, and environmental initiatives and audits.
  • Adhere to site and corporate policies regarding quality, health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Undertake any additional tasks necessary for the effective operation of mechanical systems.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Hold a Vocational Diploma in Industrial Mechanics or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in industrial maintenance, ideally in biomethanation, petrochemical, or water treatment sectors.
  • Physical capability to perform required tasks.
  • Proficient in both French and English.
  • Certification from the Construction Sector Parity Association for Health and Safety at Work is advantageous.
  • Experience in welding, assembly, and handling heavy machinery.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to tolerate visual elements and odors associated with the work environment.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting technical and architectural plans.
  • Analytical skills for technical data evaluation.
  • Team-oriented with a commitment to compliance with standards.
  • Willingness to collaborate and take on responsibilities.
  • High level of initiative and proactivity.
  • Interest in contributing to a sustainable operational framework.
  • Strong analytical skills for diagnosing technical issues and developing solutions.

Work Environment:

This is a full-time permanent position with a standard work schedule of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Flexibility is required for occasional evening work based on operational demands. The successful candidate must be adaptable during peak production periods and capable of working under pressure.
