About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Technical Content Specialist to join our team at St. John Ambulance. As a key member of our instructional design team, you will be responsible for creating high-quality, engaging training materials that meet the needs of our diverse audience.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop Training Content: Create clear, concise, and accurate training materials, including user manuals, instructor guides, and other technical documentation.
  2. Collaborate with the Instructional Design Team: Work closely with our instructional designers to develop project objectives, create engaging materials, and ensure that all content meets the highest standards of quality and professionalism.
  3. Apply Evidence-Based Practices: Incorporate researched protocols and best practices into training materials to ensure that our learners receive the most up-to-date and effective training possible.
  4. Support the Instructional Design Team: Provide technical expertise and support to the instructional design team, ensuring that all content is accurate, up-to-date, and reflects the brand and visual styles of St. John Ambulance.
  5. Quality Assurance: Review and refine content to maintain high standards of accuracy and professionalism, ensuring that all training materials meet the needs of our learners.
Requirements
  1. Post-Secondary Degree: A post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline, such as education or adult education, is required.
  2. Technical Writing Experience: Proven experience (3-5 years) as a technical writer or similar role, with certifications in technical writing or similar disciplines.
  3. Industry-Specific Knowledge: Familiarity with industry-specific knowledge in first aid, pre-hospital patient care, and/or wilderness first aid training is a requirement.
  4. Exceptional Technical Writing Skills: Exceptional technical writing, editing, and proofreading skills to develop medically complex topics into consumable content for a diverse audience.
  5. Collaboration and Communication: Ability to work well in a team, collaborate with various stakeholders, and communicate effectively with learners and colleagues.
  6. Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft SharePoint for collaboration, and strong attention to detail and accuracy.
