About the Opportunity

The City of St. Albert's Recreation and Parks department is seeking a qualified Aquatics Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our aquatic programs team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and creating a positive experience for all participants.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality aquatic programs to diverse groups of participants, including children and adults.
  • Organize and maintain a safe and tidy environment, including setting up equipment and ensuring program supplies are readily available.
  • Develop and deliver program content tailored to participants with diverse abilities, including creating lesson plans and providing instructional materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of participant performance and distribute program evaluations.

Qualifications

  • Swim Instructor/Examiner certification from The Lifesaving Society.
  • Any additional aquatic experience and training is considered an asset.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and those who hold one or more of the following: Lifesaving Instructor, Basic First Aid (BFA), Intermediate First Aid (IFA), National Lifeguard (NL), Intermediate First Aid (IFA), Oxygen Administration (02), Swimabilities, JLC Coach and/or Swim Coach Certification.

Working Conditions

  • Work a flexible schedule, including weekdays and weekends.
  • Shifts may include evenings and mornings.
  • Must work a minimum of 8 hours per week.

Compensation

$26.90 per hour based on qualifications and experience.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must obtain a clear vulnerable sector police information check.
  • Must provide proof of educational and professional credentials.
