Key Responsibilities: Under the guidance of the Executive Director of Indigenous Strategy and Reconciliation, and in collaboration with the Indigenous Education team, the Cultural Support Coordinator will play a vital role in formulating recruitment strategies and providing essential services and support tailored for Indigenous students. This position will also assess and enhance the existing services and supports available to Indigenous learners, working in partnership with various departments and colleagues. A significant aspect of this role involves liaising with the Ktunaxa Nation and Indigenous communities to ensure culturally relevant practices and protocols are upheld. Additionally, the Coordinator will be responsible for organizing cultural events and activities that foster engagement among Indigenous students and the broader College community. Administrative and clerical support for the Indigenous Education team will also be part of the responsibilities.

Qualifications: A University Studies Certificate in Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Human Service Work, or a related field is required; preference will be given to candidates with Indigenous Studies. Further education may be necessary for the selected candidate to fulfill the desired qualifications. A minimum of two years of relevant experience working with Indigenous students, communities, and organizations is essential.

Applicants should possess a deep understanding of Ktunaxa culture, along with firsthand experience in local Indigenous communities and organizations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and experience in event planning are crucial for success in this role. Proficiency in MS Office and a valid Class 5 driver's license are also required.

We encourage all interested candidates to apply; however, preference will be given to qualified individuals who self-identify as Indigenous. We invite Indigenous candidates to highlight their identity in their cover letter.

Compensation: The position offers a starting salary of $48,994.40 per year, in accordance with CUPE Pay Level 5, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes a defined pension plan, generous vacation allowances, and health and dental coverage.

Application Process: Interested candidates should submit both a cover letter and resume through the College's official website under the 'Work Here' section. Ensure that you upload each document after adding it.

Equity and Diversity Commitment: To promote employment equity and diversity, we encourage all qualified applicants, including Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, visible minorities, women, and members of the LGBTQ2S+ community, to apply. We are committed to increasing Indigenous representation within our institution and encourage applicants to self-identify as First Nation, Metis, or Inuit in their application materials.

We appreciate all applications and will contact only those selected for further consideration.
