This essential position is centered on cultivating and reinforcing alliances with Indigenous communities throughout the Kootenay Region. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in progressing Canfor's connections with First Nations groups and will necessitate a background in Indigenous relations and community involvement.
- Primary Responsibilities:
- Offer strategic counsel and assistance to Woodlands personnel and leadership to further Canfor's Indigenous Engagement Strategy.
- Work alongside Woodlands staff to guarantee streamlined approval procedures for operational plans and permits.
- Establish protocols and agreements with Indigenous groups while nurturing relationships with Indigenous leaders and organizations.
- Ensure uniformity and best practices throughout the organization in engaging with Indigenous communities.
- Facilitate outreach initiatives and pinpoint partnership opportunities within the region.
Qualified applicants will demonstrate exceptional communication abilities, experience in conflict resolution, and a robust background in collaborating with Indigenous communities. A degree in Indigenous studies or natural resource management is advantageous, along with familiarity with the forestry sector.
