Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a full-time, contract Immigration Support Specialist to enhance our Immigration team. In this role, you will provide exceptional client-focused support, demonstrating confidence and a commitment to facilitating successful transitions for newcomers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the needs of clients and identify appropriate services required for their integration.
  • Create tailored service plans based on assessments, establishing achievable goals and timelines.
  • Address critical needs by providing direct services or referrals for essentials such as housing, food, healthcare, education, and safety.
  • Deliver case management services to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
  • Engage in advocacy and mediation to address systemic barriers faced by newcomers.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with community resources and service providers.
  • Document and track client progress, including crisis management situations and follow-up referrals.
  • Conduct orientation sessions on relevant settlement topics to facilitate integration into Canadian society.
  • Maintain accurate client records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Represent the agency professionally in community engagements and committees.

Qualifications:
  • A Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Arabic and an additional language such as Somali or French is advantageous.
  • A minimum of two years' experience working with newcomers to Canada.
  • Certification as a Settlement Practitioner is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
  • Current Police Information Check and Child Intervention Record Check.
