Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in establishing product strategy, vision, and developing a product roadmap for a mid-sized, growing SaaS company. You excel in building and inspiring high-performing product teams by setting clear expectations and ensuring accountability for results. You are adept at identifying opportunities to refine processes to support the company’s growth and revenue goals.

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Vice President of Product is a vital member of CB Canada's senior leadership team. You will be responsible for formulating and executing a comprehensive product strategy that aligns with the company’s growth and revenue objectives. The VP of Product will oversee the vision and direction of our three products operating on a unified platform. You will manage a Product Manager and have the opportunity to expand the product team and function, collaborating with various stakeholders while providing a cohesive vision for the product roadmap.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the product and create a product roadmap, strategy, and vision that aligns with the company’s growth and revenue targets.
  • Prepare product planning materials essential for advancing product initiatives with clarity and consensus.
  • Establish and refine success metrics for major launches, integrating feedback into the product development cycle.
  • Advise company leadership on product strategy, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Monitor market and competitor activity to assess pricing and competitive positioning for each product.
  • Identify key issues or risks associated with the product and propose solutions to meet established targets.
  • Define and build a high-performing product team, structure, and processes to deliver products that meet customer needs.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the team by setting individual and team targets, providing learning opportunities, and ensuring accountability for results.
  • Communicate effectively with the leadership team and other stakeholders in executing the product roadmap.
  • Oversee the health of the product, responsible for creating, monitoring, and reporting on Objectives and Key Results regularly.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in developing a product strategy and roadmap for a mid-sized SaaS company.
  • Successful track record in building high-performing teams and holding team members accountable to expectations.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a product leadership role.
  • A customer-centric approach with the ability to translate insights into the product development process.
  • Strong skills in identifying and resolving bottlenecks in product development.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, project management, and Development and Operations concepts is preferred.
  • Experience implementing data-driven processes to translate vision into actionable roadmaps.
  • Ability to analyze product analytics to understand feature usage and optimization.
  • Capable of distilling product roadmaps into clear and relevant presentations for key stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Superior strategic planning, analytical, organizational, and creative thinking abilities.
