The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager to lead our Payroll Shared Services function. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the payroll operations across Canada and the US, serving over 100 divisions and 44,000 employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and Implement Strategies

Develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of shared services operations, ensuring seamless delivery across various departments or business units.

Provide Leadership and Guidance

Provide leadership and guidance in aligning shared services initiatives with business goals and objectives, driving continuous improvement and best practices to optimize processes and enhance service delivery.

Oversee Day-to-Day Operations

Oversee the day-to-day operations of shared services, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met or exceeded, and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement.

Build and Lead a High-Performing Team

Build and lead a high-performing team, providing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to ensure the success of our payroll operations.

Collaborate with Stakeholders

Collaborate with key stakeholders/teams across departments or business units to understand their needs and requirements, ensuring effective delivery of shared services.

Manage and Resolve Issues

Manage and resolve any issues or concerns raised by stakeholders in a timely and satisfactory manner, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

Develop and Manage Budget

Develop and manage the budget for the shared services department, optimizing resource allocation and cost-effectiveness, and identifying and implementing cost-saving measures without compromising service quality.

Assess and Plan for Future Resource Needs

Proactively assess and plan for future resource needs based on business growth and expansion, ensuring our payroll operations remain efficient and effective.

Requirements

  • Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A relevant master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional) is a plus.

Experience

Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in payroll, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.

Skills and Qualifications

Strong knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and compliance requirements, experience in managing payroll operations using various HRIS or payroll systems, excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities, attention to detail and accuracy, with a high level of confidentiality and integrity.
