The Urgent Response Nurse plays a crucial role within the broader Specialized Services team and collaborates with a specific multi-disciplinary group dedicated to offering direct and indirect mobile crisis intervention and mental health and substance use clinical services. This ensures that individuals facing significant mental health challenges and/or substance use issues receive timely, responsive, and evidence-based treatment and support across a comprehensive range of services.

The Urgent Response Nurse is responsible for crisis intervention, assessment, suicide prevention, short-term treatment planning, and, when necessary, rapid response for clients who may experience serious functional impairments across various life domains, including physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social aspects.

The Urgent Response Nurse serves as a primary clinician for limited durations, employing a variety of specialized treatment modalities and therapies for individuals, groups, and their families.


Work Schedule: 08:00 to 19:09 Days (Rotating)

New Compensation :
As of April 1, 2024, the new wage is: $59.52/hour

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program. A minimum of three years of recent relevant experience, including a combination of Acute Care psychiatric nursing and experience providing treatment services to individuals with mental health and/or concurrent disorders, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Successful initial RCMP Security Screen and subsequent Enhanced Security Clearance.
