Winter 2024 Co-op: Financial Risk Assessment in Capital Markets

Position Overview
As a Winter 2024 Co-op Student in the Capital Markets Financial Risk team within the Internal Audit division, you will play a vital role in providing an independent and objective evaluation of the effectiveness of the risk management strategies employed by RBC, with a primary emphasis on Market Risk and Counterparty Credit Risk.
This position offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into Internal Audit operations across various RBC entities on a global scale, including regions such as Canada, the United States, Europe/UK, and APAC, in alignment with the established audit framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the execution of intricate audits related to a diverse array of topics concerning Market Risk and Counterparty Credit Risk, including risk governance, policy frameworks, risk appetite, limit structures, risk measurement, reporting, capital aggregation, stress testing, and model risk.
- Support the validation process of audit findings.
- Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with business stakeholders to establish yourself as a trusted advisor.
- Engage in continuous risk monitoring activities and drive enhancements in processes to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Pursuing a degree in Finance or a related business field.
- Strong writing and research capabilities, along with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to think conceptually.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen interest in Financial Modeling.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
Preferred:
- General knowledge and awareness of capital markets and financial risk concepts.
- Experience with Bloomberg terminals.
- Familiarity with programming languages.
