Winter 2024 Co-op: Financial Risk Assessment in Capital Markets

Position Overview
As a Winter 2024 Co-op Student in the Capital Markets Financial Risk team within the Chief Audit Executive (CAE) group, you will play a crucial role in delivering an independent and objective evaluation of RBC's risk management strategies, particularly focusing on Market Risk and Counterparty Credit Risk. This position provides a unique opportunity to engage with Internal Audit functions across RBC's global entities, encompassing various regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the execution of complex audits that cover a wide array of topics related to Market Risk and Counterparty Credit Risk, including governance frameworks, policy structures, risk appetite, limit configurations, risk assessment, reporting, capital aggregation, stress testing, and model risk.
- Support the validation process of identified audit issues.
- Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with business stakeholders to establish yourself as a trusted advisor.
- Engage in continuous risk monitoring activities and drive enhancements in processes to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications for Success
Essential Skills:
- Pursuing a degree in Finance or a related business field.
- Strong writing and research capabilities, along with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to think conceptually.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen interest in Financial Modeling.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
Preferred Skills:
- Basic understanding of capital markets and financial risk principles.
- Experience using Bloomberg terminals.
- Familiarity with programming languages.
