Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a professional with a strong background in the mining industry. As a Regional Area Manager - Explosives Supply, you will be responsible for delivering sustainable revenue growth by working closely with site operations and crews.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage overall site contract compliance, including Health and Safety, Operations, and Commercial aspects.
  • Secure growth opportunities in mining, quarry, and construction sectors.
  • Lead and manage a team of 20+ employees.
  • Oversee safety, production, quality, and budgets for the area of mine operations.
  • Approve plans, delegate work to teams, oversee progress, solve problems, and take corrective action when required.
  • Organize budgets and monitor spending.
  • Prepare reports and briefs on production, safety, progress on projects, and more.
  • Lead and participate in meetings and briefings.
  • Oversee the development of supervisors, providing support and guidance.
  • Remain involved with union representatives and the HR department to avoid and resolve personnel issues and grievances.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree in mining, civil, or geological engineering, or a related field.
  • College or technical degree combined with relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Knowledge of mining, drilling, and blasting processes is required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, while being autonomous and self-sufficient.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a related industry, including team supervision of local crews and client support.
  • Strong track record of building positive relationships with coworkers, team members, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Good working knowledge of commonly used business IT technologies.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of OH&S Act and Health, Safety, and Environment management systems.
  • Knowledge of cash flow modeling techniques and mineral economics is an asset.
