About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Embedded Systems team at QNX Software Systems. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing a team of engineers and driving the development of cutting-edge software solutions for hardware peripherals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set and communicate team objectives, priorities, and workflows based on the product vision and strategy.
  • Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams to deliver high-quality and timely products and/or programs.
  • Manage a team of 8-12 members, including developing and building the team, attracting, recruiting, and retaining capable talents.
  • Be responsible for the team's deliverables and outcomes, controlling resources and planning.
  • Adapt team plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
  • Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role, aligned to the broader organization's goals.
  • Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development, providing feedback and coaching.
  • Create a culture of high-quality delivery by assembling a world-class engineering team, leading it, and designing scalable, sustainable components.
  • Nurture and influence the team culture of being customer-centric.
  • Possess a zeal for solving customer problems, cascading the same passion across teams.
  • Drive innovation and continual development by empowering the team to enhance their tools, procedures, and culture to keep them agile and inventive.
  • Design, guide, and vet systems designs within the scope of the broader area, and review code developed by engineers.
  • Possess a strong collaborative mindset to work closely with peers in various teams, bringing diverse viewpoints and goals together.
  • Be responsible for developing software under specialized safety standards such as ISO26262, IEC61508, etc.
  • Be responsible for Performance management, Career development, and Training needs for the team.
Requirements
  • Bootloader and board bring-up knowledge, including u-boot/DRAM controller initialization, system clock configuration, GPIO & pinmux, and power management.
  • Driver development experience for peripherals such as UART, i2c, SPI, CAN, SD, SATA/AHCI, Flash (NAND/NOR), etc.
  • Strong development experience to form a solid bridge between engineering members and management.
  • Familiarity with developing software according to standards and guidelines such as ISO26262, IEC61508, MISRA-C, etc.
  • Experience developing and reviewing supporting artifacts such as requirements documents, architecture documents, high-level and low-level design documents, etc.
  • A keen ability to help problem solve and identify solutions in complex systems.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience, and a minimum of 10+ years of experience with a proven track record in techno-managerial roles.
  • 7+ years of experience in Unix internals and embedded development experience using C and assembling language.
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership role and people management experience.
  • Proficient in embedded operating systems (QNX, Linux, GreenHills, VXworks preferred).
  • Experience targeting embedded systems on major processor architectures (ARM, x86, PPC, etc.).
  • Proven track record with complex architectural designs and handling of complex business situations and enterprise-level software products.
  • Very good exposure to DevOps concepts and tools, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
  • Strategic and Critical thinker to come up with ideas, and has the courage and perseverance to realize it.
  • Experience in working with multi-cultural and multi-locations teams.
