Job Opportunity: Senior Structural Engineer

Adecco Canada is currently recruiting for a Senior Structural Engineer for a 12-month onsite contract opportunity. This role is with our government client in downtown Ottawa, ON. The successful candidate must hold a valid Secret Security Clearance.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Structural Engineer will have the following key responsibilities:

  1. Provide administrative and technical support to the AWT Structural Engineering sub-section;
  2. Develop and prepare Contracting Documents, including Scopes of Work, Contracts, Requests for Proposals, Procurement Plans, and other supporting documentation;
  3. Coordinate with consultants and project managers to ensure seamless project execution;
  4. Prepare and present reports and presentations to inform upper management and for training purposes;
  5. Conduct technical reviews of structural engineering consultant reports, studies, and recommendations;
  6. Provide summaries of seismic assessments performed by consultants;
  7. Conduct Quality Assurance Reviews and design building elements as required;
  8. Perform structural studies (slab loading, slab capacity assessment, seismic base shears based on the National Building Code of Canada), as required;
  9. Develop structural engineering solutions as required;
  10. Attend and participate in various working group meetings as requested;
  11. Operate and maintain structural software and existing seismic database;
  12. Collaborate with NRC to develop a seismic risk framework using existing departmental seismic database;
  13. Perform design calculations and review construction drawings and specifications.
Mandatory Requirements

The Senior Structural Engineer must meet the following mandatory requirements:

  1. Hold an Undergraduate degree in an engineering program, specializing in a specific relevant field, from a recognized Canadian University or an acceptable equivalent from a foreign institution;
  2. Have at least 24 months of experience with designing of buildings or building sections, preparation of specifications, developing of models of buildings and building systems, performing studies and design drafting;
  3. Have at least 24 months of experience with preparing specifications, assisting in the operation of pilot projects, performing quality control functions, interpreting and evaluating situations and data, researching problems and developing solutions;
  4. Have at least 24 months of experience with assisting in the planning, scheduling and coordination of work, preparation of detailed estimates and writing reports;
  5. Have a minimum of 24 months experience in the analysis and design of structural systems for buildings covered under Part 4 of the National Building Code of Canada;
  6. Hold a valid Secret organization security clearance.
