Position Overview:

The Strategy team at Scotiabank is a dynamic and high-achieving group comprised of exceptional talent dedicated to formulating and implementing strategies at both the enterprise and business line levels for one of Canada's foremost international banks.

This team collaborates closely with senior executives, business line leaders, and a diverse array of stakeholders to provide strategic insights that address business challenges through comprehensive research, analysis, and persuasive strategic recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee tailored strategy formulation and advisory services at both enterprise and business line levels, which includes conducting research, performing analyses, and delivering strategic recommendations that effectively address business challenges.
  • Participate in steering committees for significant initiatives and engage in specific project workstreams.
  • Develop project plans to ensure that deliverables and timelines are adhered to.
  • Collect data and execute financial analyses to identify and diagnose issues.
  • Manage multiple project streams, leading problem-solving sessions, workshops, and interviews with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts.
  • Synthesize findings and present clear recommendations along with implementation strategies to ensure impactful project outcomes.
  • Drive the execution and ongoing management of strategic planning at both the enterprise and business line levels.
  • Assist in organizing strategy offsite meetings for senior management and the Board of Directors to facilitate ongoing discussions regarding the bank's strategic direction.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in business or engineering; a graduate business degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years post-MBA or 5 years post-undergraduate experience in consulting, corporate strategy/development, or investment banking.
  • Exceptional planning and analytical capabilities, with the ability to discern critical business issues from research data.
  • Highly developed relationship management skills to effectively engage with stakeholders across the bank, partners, and external vendors.
  • Proven history of delivering innovative solutions from concept through to change management.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
