Job Title: Lead Experience Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Experience Designer to join our team at The Globe and Mail. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating an exceptional user experience for our readers.

Job Summary:

The Lead Experience Designer will be responsible for:

  1. Analyzing and organizing our UX research operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
  2. Mapping the complete user journey across all touchpoints to identify areas for improvement
  3. Conducting discovery work to deeply understand our readers' personal contexts and uncover unmet needs
  4. Creating an Experience Vision that will be fundamental to our product strategy
  5. Communicating findings to our executive team, product design team, and leaders in editorial, marketing, and revenue on a regular basis
  6. Mentoring our product design team to level up their research skills
Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have:

  1. 8+ years of experience in UX, with significant experience in UX research
  2. A passion for user experience and design thinking
  3. A strong desire to be innovative within the news, content publishing, and media industry
  4. Experience optimizing a research library, best-practices research techniques, and templates
  5. Confidence in communicating with leadership and facilitating stakeholder alignment
  6. Charisma and clarity in oral communication and documentation
  7. Experience working with data and metrics
  8. Proven ability to translate both qualitative and quantitative insights to innovation in user experience
  9. A positive attitude that embraces diversity and inclusion in the workplace
  10. Extensive experience using research tools such as Airtable, Miro, Google suite, or Microsoft
  11. Basic front-end coding comprehension
