Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Casual Immunization Specialist at Southern Health-Santé Sud. As a key member of our public health team, you will play a vital role in providing immunization services to various populations, promoting health and preventing disease.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and provide immunization services to diverse populations in clinical, community, or school-based settings.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure effective and efficient delivery of immunization services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to promote immunization services and public health initiatives.
  • Stay up-to-date with current knowledge and best practices in immunization and public health.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance immunization services and patient care.
Requirements
  • Current active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM) is required.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements must be met in accordance with regional policy.
  • Completion of all required immunization training modules is necessary.
  • Knowledge of Professional Standards of Practice, Competency Profile for Licensed Practical Nurses in Manitoba, and Code of Ethics is essential.
  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA) must be understood.
  • Regional/Facility/Unit policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines must be adhered to.
  • Nursing care knowledge related to clinical area is required.
  • Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions), and other legislated acts must be understood.
  • Roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team must be known.
  • Principles of delegation must be applied.
  • Minimum one-year nursing experience is required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Competence in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and values is an asset.
  • Critical thinking/problem-solving skills are necessary.
  • Ability to prioritize care for an individual patient or group of patients is required.
  • Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands is essential.
  • Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities is necessary.
  • Ability to perform independently and as a member of the healthcare team is required.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations is essential.
  • Ability to maintain concentration with frequent interruptions is necessary.
  • Ability to function in a demanding and stressful environment is required.
  • Physical capability to carry out clinical skills is essential.
  • Physical capability to provide service in a wide variety of community/clinical settings is required.
  • Use of a reliable motor vehicle suitable for all environmental conditions is necessary.
  • Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required.
  • Proficiency in both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
  • Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job is necessary.
  • Ability to respect confidentiality, including paper, electronic formats, and other mediums, is required.
  • Good work and attendance record is essential.
Conditions of Employment
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license, an all-purpose insured vehicle, and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00 are required.
