Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Immunization Specialist to join our team at Southern Health-Santé Sud. As a key member of our public health team, you will play a vital role in providing immunization services to various populations, promoting health and preventing disease.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and provide immunization services to diverse populations, ensuring equity, diversity, and cultural safety.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement immunization programs, promoting public health and preventing disease.
  • Maintain professional competence, staying up-to-date with current knowledge and evidence-based practices.
  • Exercise independent judgment in determining work priorities, methods, and actions, ensuring consistency with Southern Health-Santé Sud's mission, vision, and values.
Qualifications
  • Current active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM) is required.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements must be met in accordance with regional policy.
  • Completion of all required immunization training modules is necessary.
  • Knowledge of Professional Standards of Practice, Competency Profile for Licensed Practical Nurses in Manitoba, and Code of Ethics is essential.
  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA) must be understood.
  • Regional/Facility/Unit policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines must be adhered to.
  • Nursing care knowledge related to clinical areas is required.
  • Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions), and other legislated acts must be understood.
  • Roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members must be recognized.
  • Principles of delegation must be applied.
  • A minimum of one year of nursing experience is required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Competence in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and values is an asset.
  • Critical thinking/problem-solving skills must be demonstrated.
  • The ability to prioritize care for individual patients or groups of patients is necessary.
  • The ability to respond to various simultaneous demands is required.
  • The ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities is essential.
  • The ability to perform independently and as a member of the healthcare team is necessary.
  • The ability to adapt quickly to changing situations is required.
  • The ability to maintain concentration with frequent interruptions is essential.

Conditions of Employment
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license, an all-purpose insured vehicle, and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00 are required.
