Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Clinical Nurse Specialist
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist to become part of the In-Patient Surgery unit. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality care to surgical patients.
Responsibilities of the Clinical Nurse Specialist include:
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to assigned patients by functioning both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Conduct assessments, formulate care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes. Engage in discharge planning, advocate for patients, and educate patients and their families on health conditions and wellness strategies. Enhance the quality of life from the perspective of patients and their families. Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and address incidents following established protocols. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care. Commit to ongoing professional development and clinical competence. Participate in hospital committees and approved research initiatives as assigned.Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Active registration as a Clinical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).Skills & Competencies
Proven expertise in nursing practice specific to surgical patient care. In-depth knowledge of pathophysiology related to common surgical diagnoses and clinical scenarios. Ability to perform nursing assessments and interventions pertinent to the surgical patient population. Competence in anticipating and managing potential complications related to surgical care. Proficiency in using medical equipment and maintaining competency in oxygen delivery systems and related devices. Skill in documenting patient care accurately and timely in accordance with organizational standards. Experience in managing patients with complex health needs, including pain management and post-operative care. Ability to perform nursing procedures autonomously, adhering to established standards of care.Additional Information
The work schedule, including days off and specific work areas, may vary based on operational needs and collective agreements. Successful candidates may need to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
