Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to become a vital part of the In-Patient Surgery department at Lions Gate Hospital. This is an opportunity to contribute to a collaborative healthcare environment.
Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse include:
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to assigned patients, functioning both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. Conduct assessments, develop care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes. Engage in discharge planning, advocate for patients, and educate patients and their families on health management and wellness. Enhance the quality of life from the perspective of patients and their families. Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and address incidents following established protocols. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care. Continuously develop and maintain clinical skills and competencies. Participate in designated committees and approved research initiatives as assigned.Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Active registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).Skills & Competencies
Proven expertise in nursing practice related to surgical patient care. In-depth knowledge of pathophysiology associated with common surgical diagnoses and specific clinical scenarios. Ability to perform nursing assessments and interventions relevant to surgical patients. Proficient in anticipating and addressing potential complications and care challenges. Competent in the use of medical equipment and technology pertinent to patient care. Skilled in documenting patient care accurately and timely in accordance with organizational standards. Experience in managing patients with complex health needs, including pain management and infection control. Proficient in the administration of medications and monitoring of vital signs. Ability to perform within the scope of practice and adhere to infection control protocols.Additional Information
The working hours, including days off and work area, may be adjusted based on operational needs and in accordance with the Collective Agreement and relevant regulations. Successful candidates may need to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
