Gynecological Surgical Nurse

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Surgical Services Specialist. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver direct patient care in accordance with established standards and guidelines.
- Collaborate with the interprofessional healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
- Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including documentation of patient history, assessment, and interventions.
- Participate in the orientation and continuing education of new learners on the interprofessional care team.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and operational requirements that promote effective use of resources and maintain high-quality patient care.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff by following established safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the evaluation of nursing research and quality improvement projects.
Requirements
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Successful completion of a post-graduate program in Operating Room Nursing or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
- CPR Training – Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) – Level I.
- Current PALS certification.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to relate effectively with patients and their families.
- Ability to participate as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
