About the Role

The Associate Dean, Indigenous Education and Engagement is a key leadership position at Humber College, responsible for advancing the institution's commitment to Indigenous education and engagement. This role requires a strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and perspectives, as well as excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement an Indigenous Education and Engagement Strategic Plan that aligns with the college's mission and vision.
  • Culture and Community Building: Foster a culture that supports innovation and enhances the scope and quality of Indigenous education programs and curricula.
  • Program Development: Support the development and integration of Indigenous histories, perspectives, and knowledge into the institution's core teaching and research.
  • Collaboration and Partnerships: Build and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, and stakeholders to advance Indigenous education and engagement.
  • Leadership and Management: Provide leadership and management to a team of staff and faculty to achieve the goals and objectives of the Indigenous Education and Engagement unit.
Qualifications
  • Education: Master's degree in Indigenous Studies, Education, or a related field, with a minimum of five years of experience in a post-secondary educational environment in support of Indigenous education, student success, and/or community engagement.
  • Experience: Proven track record of leadership and management experience in Indigenous education and engagement, with excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and perspectives, as well as knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's recommendations and relevant Federal and Provincial reports, programs, and grant opportunities.
