This role is pivotal in navigating financial complexities, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring the organization's financial health.

Position Overview:

The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Executive Leadership Team to formulate and execute financial strategies that reflect the organization's core values and long-term vision.
  • Proactively identify potential financial challenges and implement effective solutions to maintain fiscal stability and promote growth.
  • Utilize analytical skills to assess financial scenarios, project future trends, and make data-driven decisions that support the organization's goals.
  • Lead the finance department in managing daily financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Oversee the organization’s insurance requirements, ensuring comprehensive coverage and effective risk management practices.
  • Administer employee benefits programs and provide robust HR support to enhance staff welfare.
  • Act as the liaison for various volunteer committees, including the Audit & Finance Committee.
  • Ensure adherence to governance policies and regulations pertinent to non-profit organizations, particularly in North America.
  • Assist in identifying funding opportunities and ensure compliance with grant stipulations.
  • Enhance banking relationships and develop strategies to optimize cash flow.
  • Understand the missions and financial frameworks of associated charitable foundations and provide necessary financial guidance.
  • Oversee the annual audit process and manage the preparation of necessary financial documentation.
  • Serve as a Trustee for pension plans, overseeing accounting, reporting, and management.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is mandatory.

  • A proven history of developing and implementing financial strategies that drive organizational success.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical capabilities, with the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in managing a team of finance professionals.
  • Familiarity with Financial Edge accounting software is preferred.
