We offer a comprehensive range of innovative and evidence-based mental health services tailored for children, youth, and families. Our programs include residential care, day treatment, and community-based services, extending to in-home and school-based support.

As the Lead Agency for the Hamilton service area under the Moving on Mental Health initiative, we are dedicated to transforming the mental health landscape for children and families. This initiative, initiated by the Ministry, aims to enhance the community-based mental health service system. We collaborate with various stakeholders, including other mental health service providers, child welfare agencies, health organizations, school boards, and families, to facilitate systemic reform.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Psychologist to join our Head Office team in Hamilton. While proficiency in both English and French is preferred, it is not a strict requirement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized psychological insights to our interdisciplinary team, which includes Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Child Youth Workers, and Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs).
  • Assist in the development and formulation of treatment plans, utilizing a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to the unique needs of children, youth, and their families.
  • Engage in a collaborative clinical team environment, participating in intake processes, program development, and evaluation.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records, assessments, and reports in accordance with agency policies and regulatory standards.
  • Document assessments, treatment plans, and interventions in line with agency guidelines while adhering to professional standards set by the regulatory college.
  • Provide leadership in treatment planning and the evaluation of treatment outcomes.
  • Contribute to the creation, implementation, and assessment of clinical programs.
  • Facilitate training sessions for staff in partnership with the Clinical Director and Program Managers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology is required.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, with authorization to work with children and adolescents.
  • Proficiency in various evidence-based therapeutic modalities, particularly Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in mental health treatment for children and youth in either inpatient or outpatient settings.
  • Strong skills in consultation, teaching, inter-professional collaboration, and supervision of advanced learners.
  • Experience in administering and interpreting psychological assessments, particularly those relevant to cognitive, academic, personality, and socio-emotional functioning.
  • Ability to develop intervention plans aimed at enhancing client functioning in home and community settings.
  • Experience working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to achieve shared goals.
  • Familiarity with navigating and collaborating with various community systems.
  • Proficient in using computers and specialized software for client data management, report preparation, and case documentation.
  • A valid G class driver's license and reliable transportation are required for local travel. Minimum liability insurance coverage of one million dollars is necessary.
