Unit Overview

The Autism Program at McMaster Children's Hospital provides essential outpatient services for children and adolescents diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our program is closely affiliated with McMaster University's Departments of Pediatrics and Psychiatry, as well as the McMaster Autism Research Team (MacART) and the Offord Centre for Child Studies.

Position Overview

As a Behaviour Therapist within the Autism Program, you will be responsible for designing and implementing behaviour modification strategies aimed at reducing challenging behaviours in children and youth (up to 18 years) diagnosed with ASD, along with their families. Services may be delivered in both group settings and one-on-one sessions. A key aspect of this role includes conducting parent workshops and training sessions. You will collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing comprehensive support within the Autism Program.

Work Schedule

Monday to Friday; including days, evenings, and Saturdays.

Qualifications

1. A Master's degree is required, with a focus on human behaviour and/or developmental psychology.
2. Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification in good standing is mandatory.
3. Proven expertise in behavioural assessment, service coordination, and treatment planning for children and/or youth with developmental disabilities.
4. A minimum of three to five years of clinical experience in delivering Applied Behaviour Analysis services to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
5. Experience in providing educational training to caregivers of children and youth with ASD.
6. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
7. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
8. Proficient computer skills and experience in data management.
9. A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are required.
10. Bilingual proficiency in French is considered an asset.
11. Participation in a criminal reference screening process is necessary.
12. Must be able to obtain a valid Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS).
