The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University is seeking a dedicated Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Faculty Member to join our esteemed team. This full-time role offers an opportunity to work within a leading pediatric academic institution, contributing to the mental health of children and adolescents.

Department and Program Insights:

The successful candidate will integrate into a collaborative environment alongside a diverse group of child and adolescent psychiatrists, pediatric psychologists, and skilled social workers. Our Child and Youth Mental Health Program encompasses a range of services, including a 22-bed inpatient unit, emergency mental health services, consultation-liaison services, a day hospital program, and outpatient care. The department is committed to fostering educational and research initiatives, encouraging partnerships among researchers, educators, clinicians, and community service providers.

The Department consists of a multidisciplinary team of both MD and non-MD faculty, all dedicated to enhancing psychiatric services across the region. Candidate Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will possess an MD and have advanced training in child psychiatry, ideally with 2-5 years of practical experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to clinical education and the ability to mentor future child psychiatrists is essential. Opportunities for education and supervision are available across various training programs.
  • Experience with evidence-based assessment tools and a commitment to multidisciplinary approaches in clinical assessment and treatment are required.
  • Interest in consultation-liaison psychiatry and emergency psychiatry is highly valued.
  • Evidence of research productivity and a strong interest in clinical research aligned with departmental goals is advantageous.
  • The appointee will be expected to engage fully in departmental and divisional activities. Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Ontario and hold relevant specialty certification.
