Key Responsibilities

Daily Activities Overview:

Design and Project Management

  • Assist in the creation of technical documentation and studies to support the advancement of transportation engineering designs, including Environmental Assessment (EA) documentation.
  • Develop transportation initiatives encompassing:
    • Initial and Comprehensive Design
    • Engineering analyses
    • Technical specifications
    • Design computations
    • Transportation drafting utilizing CADD software
    • Execute site evaluations and condition assessments
    • Conduct thorough reviews of safety practices and perform risk evaluations
    • Prepare contract documentation, which includes contract drawings, construction specifications, tender quantities, cost estimates, and working day projections.
    • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including engineers, planners, environmental scientists, engineering technologists, and administrative support personnel.

Business Development Initiatives

  • Aid in the formulation of estimates and project proposals.
  • Play a role in the leadership and expansion of the Transportation division.
  • Foster relationships with public and private sector clients and explore new business prospects.
  • Travel to client sites and/or other offices for the execution of responsibilities, relationship building, project research, and delivery.

Required Qualifications

Essential Skills for Success:

  • A degree in civil or transportation engineering or a diploma in civil engineering technology.
  • Licensed as an engineer-in-training in Ontario, or eligible for licensing within six months, or registered as a civil engineering technologist in Ontario, or eligible for registration within six months.
  • 3-8 years of experience with exposure to consulting environments.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Familiarity with relevant municipal and provincial engineering standards and regulatory frameworks.
  • Understanding of industry standards, specifications, and sound engineering practices.
  • Comprehension of project design and implementation processes, including the development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering, and contract management.
  • Proficient in current AutoCAD software; knowledge of Civil 3D, Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, or InRoads software is advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
