Your Role
Dillon's Transportation Technical Group is seeking a Transportation Engineer or Certified Engineering Technologist to enhance our diverse team of experts. You will engage in innovative projects, ensuring clients receive a comprehensive and outstanding service experience.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Project Management
- Assist in the creation of technical reports and studies that support the formulation of transportation engineering designs, including environmental assessment documentation.
- Design various transportation projects, encompassing:
- Preliminary and Detailed Design
- Engineering analyses
- Technical specifications
- Design calculations
- Utilize CADD software for transportation drafting.
- Conduct site assessments and condition evaluations.
- Review safety practices and carry out risk assessments.
- Prepare contract documentation, including drawings, specifications, tender quantities, cost estimates, and timelines.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including engineers, planners, environmental scientists, and administrative staff.
Business Development
- Assist in the preparation of project estimates and proposals.
- Support the leadership and expansion of the Transportation group.
- Help develop relationships with public and private sector clients and identify new business opportunities.
- Travel to client sites and other offices as needed for project execution and relationship development.
Professional Growth
- Commit to continuous self-improvement and professional development.
- Provide guidance to junior staff, including technical direction and mentoring.
- Enhance Dillon's corporate profile through active involvement in professional associations.
Qualifications
What You Need to Succeed:
- A degree in civil or transportation engineering or a diploma in civil engineering technology.
- Eligibility for licensing as an engineer-in-training in Ontario or registration as a civil engineering technologist within six months.
- 3-8 years of relevant consulting experience.
Experience
- Familiarity with municipal and provincial engineering standards and regulations.
- Understanding of industry standards, specifications, and best engineering practices.
- Knowledge of project design and implementation, including drawing development, contract preparation, and administration.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with Civil 3D, Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, or InRoads is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
