AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The Indigenous Wellness Service (IWS) Community Engagement Navigator is responsible for the planning, implementation and administration of the TBIFC Trusted Sources Partnership Program services in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures.
The IWS Community Engagement Navigator will primarily be responsible to act as an advocate for client groups within the community, support individuals facing barriers accessing status cards, while expanding the community capacity of the Friendship Centre. This position will collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, and coordinate services and support in consultation with individuals and partnering programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Preferred post-secondary education in Social Services and/or a minimum of two years' experience in social services or community services environment.
2. Preferred minimum of two years' experience with community engagement, coordination, and administration; knowledge of applicable legislation, including AODA, OHRC, etc.
3. Knowledge and experience with applications for identification / system navigation.
4. Knowledge and experience with service supports, community resources, referral processes.
5. Knowledge of Indigenous culture and experience working with Indigenous persons; understanding of the northern cultural environment; knowledge of an Indigenous language(s) will be considered an asset.
6. Must possess strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
7. Excellent case and file management skills, stress and time management skills.
8. Ability to engage people to build trust and rapport; effective verbal and listening communication skills; excellent interviewing and navigation skills.
9. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
10. Ability to problem solve and take initiative; effective crisis intervention skills.
11. Proficiency in Microsoft Word including database applications.
12. Self-motivated individual with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team-oriented setting.
13. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
14. Valid First Aid / CPR Certificate.
15. Must have a valid Ontario driver's license and reliable transportation.
16. A clear criminal reference check (CPIC) and Vulnerable Sector Clearance is a condition of employment.
