COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENT COODINATOR

Creek Church in Cooksville-Mississauga. We are a very grass roots community engagement organization bringing connection and vibrancy into the Cooksville
- Mississauga community. Our mission is to enhance all aspects of wellness, including physical, spiritual psychological, social, economic and environmental.
We do this through empowering individuals, connecting people, and creating projects as people share their passions, skills and knowledge.

Manager, Event Marketing Manager, and other staff members to support the
Heart Comonos mission.

Term: May 29, 2023 - July 23, 2023 (8 weeks)
Rate: $17.00/hour (Funded by the Government of Canada Summer Jobs Program)
Hours: 35 hours/week (will include some evenings and weekends)
Location: Various locations in Mississauga (in person) and virtual

**Responsibilities**:

- Manage a team of volunteers and staff a community engagement tent in public locations such as Hurontario and Dundas streets, Hillcrest

Avenue and other locations in Mississauga, 2-3 days per week, in 4-hour shifts.
- Engage with residents and the public with information, surveys, games, conversation, refreshments, and music at this tent to create awareness about Heart Comonos’ services, programs, mission, and initiatives.
- Assist in planning and coordinating Heart Comonos events, including administrative tasks, outreach, volunteer recruitment, and on-site event support.
- Engage with community partners and Cooksville community members to promote Heart Comonos' events and activities.
- Assist in promoting and marketing events.
- Assist with general office tasks, including data entry, meeting, and calendar scheduling, and responding to inquiries.
- Attend and participate in team and external meetings, training sessions, and other activities as required.
- Tracking and recording event participation to provide insight for future outreach programs.

Qualifications:

- Extroverted, energetic, passionate and extremely comfortable interacting with residents and the public from all walks of life in the socio-economic spectrum.
- Excellent spoken and written English, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- 2nd language (Polish, Arabic, Urdu) would be a benefit.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to multitask, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast
- paced and fun environment.
- Motivated and interested in learning and practicing community engagement and social impact.
- Own transportation would be beneficial.
- Enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary institution in a relevant field (e.g., social work, marketing, event planning, communications).
- This is a quality work experience for a person aged 18 - 30
