**Department summary**

The Centre for Healthy Communities (CHC) in the School of Public Health works with our partners to address complex issues that impact community health, wellbeing, and sustainability. We recognize that health and wellness are created outside of the health-care sector, so we work across sectors to focus on root causes, prevent illness and promote community health and equity. We collaborate with government, municipalities, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, community members and other academics to provide timely, evidence-informed solutions to help communities achieve their healthiest potential. We help our partners to mobilize their knowledge and share their healthy community-building experiences with others. Since the solutions for one community can be adapted to many, our work has both immediate and enduring impact on society. Dr. Candace Nykiforuk is the Founding and Scientific Director of the Centre for Healthy Communities.

**Position summary**

The Research Assistant will support the development of implementation case studies based on previous project work conducted by the CHC through the Alberta Healthy School Community Wellness Fund (AHSCWF). Implementation cases will specifically be used to profile Comprehensive School Health (CSH) strategies used in the AHSCWF project. Primary duties include: compiling AHSCWF-related data from schools and school authorities throughout Alberta; work collaboratively with the CHC team, research team, and partners to identify a sub-set of AHSCWF cases to profile; complete primary data collection with identified champions; and prepare a series of case profiles for schools and/or school authorities throughout Alberta.

**Duties**
- Compile and synthesis AHSCWF-related data from schools and school authorities throughout Alberta (using existing datasets). Datasets includes a variety of quantitative and qualitative sources. Key to this activity will include synthesizing information across multiple data sources spanning multiple project years. Through this activity a subset of cases will be identified to profile.
- Prepare a series of case profiles for selected schools and/or school authorities within Alberta. Key to this activity will be integrating an equity and intersectionality lens, while ensuring appropriateness to a practice-based audience.
- Assist in the writing of manuscripts for submission to journals and grant proposals (including organizing, editing and formatting), as necessary.
- Prepare internal written reports and documentation and ensures timely submission to support research team’s activities.
- Contribute to and/or develop other knowledge translation products (e.g., infosheets/infographics, presentations to partners or academic audiences, content for CHC Centre Connect newsletter, etc.), ensuring the information is accurate and the language appropriate for the target audience.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree in Education, Public Health, Health Promotion, Physical Education, Social Sciences, or related fields; master’s degree preferred.
