The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) is the Province of BC’s primary emergency response organization. It operates year-round to deliver its mandate for wildfire management and response to natural hazard emergencies. The BCWS operates provincially, delivering services through six fire centres, thirty-three zones and two provincial centres in Kamloops and Victoria.

The Provincial Wildfire Reporting Centre (PWRC) Supervisor is responsible for leading the planning, development, and implementation of the PWRC operations and services. The PWRC operates year-round and is the province’s first line of communication for the public to report wildfires and activities or behaviour that may cause a wildfire and other natural hazard incidents. The PWRC is a critical link that helps inform BC Wildfire Service, creating situational awareness and supporting rapid operational decision-making about emergency response to wildfire and other natural hazard incidents.

**Job Requirements**:
Education and Experience:

- Technical diploma in a field related to public administration, business administration or equivalent knowledge plus 1 year *related experience; or
- Grade 12 plus 3 years of *related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and related experience; and
- Related experience is defined as call centre experience or other disciplines related to emergency management response.
- Must have a minimum of 1 year demonstrated supervisory experience.
- Must have a minimum of 1 year demonstrated experience training staff on processes and policies.
- Must have a minimum of 1 year demonstrated experience in emergency management.

Willingness statements and provisos:

- Class 5 driver licence.
- To be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments and corporate structures.
- To keep current on emerging issues.
- To take in-house training and certification as required.
- To fly in aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) as required.
- To work extended hours, including weekends, and be on standby with limited notice in accordance with the preparedness plan.
- To travel and overnight in remote locations where accommodations may vary as required.
- To be assigned or participate in Incident Command System positions and Incident Management Teams as required.
- Work under adverse or stressful conditions, including smoke, extreme heat, and mountainous terrain in remote and isolated conditions.
