**Title: Coordinator, Research and Innovation**

**Reports to: Senior Manager, Industry Advancement**

**OBJECTIVE**

The Coordinator, Research and Innovation is responsible for coordinating activities that advance emerging technologies for the commercial transportation industry. This individual will assist to identify research projects that align with AMTA’s strategic plan and mission, vision, values and will contribute to the development of approved project opportunities. The Coordinator will also facilitate internal and external communications to engage membership, project collaborators and stakeholders in the growth and development of AMTA’s Research and Innovation program.

In support of AMTA identified projects, the Coordinator will manage the full life cycle of project funding opportunities. The Coordinator, Innovation will identify funding opportunities that may include grants, project bids or industry sponsorship and prepare project proposal for submission. Upon successful attainment of project funding the Coordinator will oversee project meetings and complete required written and financial reporting for projects undertaken by the AMTA.

**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assist the Senior Manager in the development of operational planning which aligns with the association’s overall strategic plan
- Oversee departmental responsibilities reporting to this position, coaching, and mentoring department staff, encouraging strategic-thinking skills, collaborative teamwork, and effective working relationships
- Provide functional daily leadership to direct reports
- Establish clear standards of performance relating to the scope of duties for all direct reports, ensuring that standards are consistently and effectively communicated, monitored, and performance managed accordingly
- Develop performance metrics related to team goals and achievement of objectives
- Foster a culture of customer service, teamwork, and staff engagement
- Collaborate with the Senior Manager on matters relating to recruitment, hiring, ongoing evaluation, and performance management of staff
