**Position**

Reporting to the Director, Biomedical Oral and Maxillofacial Research Unit (BOMRU) the BOMRU the Laboratory Coordinator plays a fundamental role in the operation of the School of Dentistry, Katz Centre core and shared laboratory facilities, and in conducting and facilitating biomedical and translational science-based research in the School of Dentistry.

This position participates in the onboarding and training of new staff and students working in the facility, supporting investigator needs within the facility, operating core facilities, as well as generating and maintaining the safety SOP's.

The BOMRU Laboratory Coordinator will enhance and strengthen existing research collaboration and will facilitate creation of new research opportunities among scientists by providing a valuable infrastructure where basic laboratory-based research experimentation by faculty within the School of Dentistry can be performed.

**Duties**
- Runs the Research Assistance Program, which provides all investigators in the BOMRU with expertise in utilizing the microscopy and histology core, the molecular biology core, the tissue culture core, and µCT imaging core
- Aids researchers in the School of Dentistry with conceptual and technical aspects of their research, including, but not limited to: cell culture, immunohistochemistry, cell biology, protein biochemistry, molecular biology, confocal microscopy, and microbiology with the assistance of Principal Investigators
- Works with investigators to ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations, biological and chemical hazards/WHMIS activities in the department.
- Manages and runs the µCT imaging facility for investigators within the School of Dentistry.
- Develops SOPs for core equipment and safety protocols for core and general facilities
- Maintains equipment in laboratories and core facilities in good working order.
- Coordinates specific equipment maintenance schedules and certifications.
- Procures and maintains core laboratory and office inventory and the ordering of supplies and equipment for core facilities.
- Coordinates routine facility activities, including the assignment of keys, lockers, and desk space and access to facilities

**Qualifications**
- Minimum BSc degree in a relevant area of biomedical sciences.
- 2 years of laboratory experience in methodologies and experimental approaches related to cell culture, immunohistochemistry, cell biology, protein biochemistry, molecular biology, microscopy, and microbiology.
- Experience in performance and analysis of µCT imaging is preferable.
- Experience in isolation and culture of primary cells from mice is preferable.
- Experience with MS Office,
