**Communications and Operations Coordinator**
Westboro Village Business Improvement Area (WVBIA) is seeking a highly organized, self-starting and detail-oriented individual to join our small office 25 hours a week. We are a member-based organization that is all about relationships. As a small team committed to collaboration, we all pitch in for community engagement, placemaking and supporting our businesses. We offer flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends as BIA programming is scheduled. Our office has a passion for coffee, conversation, music and house plants.
As our Communications and Operations Coordinator your responsibilities include:
- Plan, develop and schedule weekly, informative and engaging social media content, across digital channels, that is relevant to Westboro Village stakeholders and audiences, and monitor the channels on a daily basis.
- Assist with the development of the social media calendar and identify new opportunities for social media engagement.
- Research and write blog posts including new business announcements and Behind the Business blogs.
- Develop and build on relationships with BIA members, with a focus on increased member engagement, including the I
Work in Westboro program.
- Use analytics to assess effectiveness of social media content and campaigns while continually seeking ways to grow community online, including the production of monthly reports.
- Provide marketing event and logístical support including, but not limited to, preparing campaign promotional packages and or media kits, and event day execution.
- Advise and work with Executive Director on any new promotional opportunities.
What you bring
- You’re passionate about social media and have experience managing various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram, Snapchat. etc.)
- You have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, juggling tasks and change priorities as needed.
- You can think creatively and strategically, and communicate well with excellent writing skills, independently and with a team.
- Experience with graphics software is an asset.
- Proficiency in MS Office is required.
- Post-secondary education in communications, marketing, or equivalent experience in digital communications or marketing.
- Previous experience working within a membership-based organization or with small businesses is an asset.
- Bilingualism (oral and written) is considered an asset.
**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 25 per week
**Salary**: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Ottawa, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
**Education**:
- Secondary School (preferred)
**Experience**:
- public relations: 1 year (preferred)
