Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator is responsible for fostering relationships with members, maintaining the member database, assisting with event coordination, supporting marketing endeavors, and creating compelling content for BIA social media and outreach initiatives. This role will also perform office administration support where required.

The specific responsibilities of Marketing and Communications Coordinator include:
Member and Community Relations
- Providing regular updates to ED and Board members on changes to membership.
- Handles requests for routine information and addresses routine member issues and questions.
- Assists with relationship building within the community, by conducting external outreach and supporting marketing endeavors.

Digital Communications
- Prepares and distributes monthly e-newsletter to businesses and community members.
- Manages member e-newsletter database.

Marketing and Social Media
- Creates website content that supports our overall strategy and branding.
- Performs routine updates to the BIA website, including to its business directory, member information pages, featured content and seasonal marketing.
- Creates quality, creative and tasteful content for social media channels
- Manage BIA social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok). Basic knowledge of graphic design is required. Comfortable using Canva.
- Assists in the creation and detailed planning of social media engagement and growth
- Tracks and analyzes social media engagement and performance, organizing findings in a monthly analytics report to the Board of Directors.
- Creates and manages promoted posts and event pages
- Creates and maintains an online presence on social media
- Feels comfortable being on camera as a ‘spokesperson’ for the businesses of Little Italy
- Visits the various shops, restaurants and businesses of the Preston Street BIA to post on their behalf.
- Engages in dialogue with users and responds to enquiries and feedback.
- Assists the ED with other marketing activities as required.

Festivals and Special Events
- Assists in the overall planning, execution and follow-up of festivals and special events. These include the Ottawa Italian Festival, La Vendemmia, Winterlude—as well as other events that may be developed—and the Annual General Meeting.
- Event planning assistance includes such tasks as: tracking invitations and RSVPs, coordinating event logistics, preparing promotional materials, maintaining a presence at local events, and gathering event feedback and other event follow-up as needed.

Administration and Office Support
- Supports the Board of Directors by attending monthly Board meetings and provides administrative support for Board and committee meetings, which includes: facilitating meetings, writing minutes, and preparing documents.
- Assists in BIA financial management: assembling monthly records and expenses to coordinate payments. Knowledge of basic accounting required.

Other
- Supports the ED in fund development and management including grant writing and reporting.
- Other tasks as required by various economic development programs as developed by provincial or municipal funders.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in digital communications, marketing, and event coordination
- Basic knowledge of graphic design (experience using Canva)
- Familiarity with administrative principles

Assets

- Knowledge of community initiatives, resources

**Salary**: From $45,000.00 per year
