Ottawa, Canada OCM Auto Financing Full time

As a Paralegal with OCM Auto Financing, you have the opportunity to work closely with our team, focusing exclusively on Litigation Support. This individual provides valuation and damage quantification analysis in the context of mediations, arbitrations, trials and other litigious situations. Having experience in the automotive industry would be valuable but is not mandatory.

The Employee reports directly to the Controller and performs the following duties and undertakes the following responsibilities in a professional manner:

- Manages the legal collection process (up to and including Small Claims Court litigation).
- Communicates with debtors, clients, opposing counsel, and the court regarding issues.
- Drafts legal correspondence and documents including motion papers & complaints.
- Make determinations on accounts for future course of action.
- Assists in resolving customer and dealer disputes.
- Prepares records for legal parties including consumer proposals.
- Maintains the electronic and hard copy filing system.
- Updates legal account status records.
- Consults and reports the status to management on any/all assigned accounts, as required.
- Implements and maintains policies and procedures.
- Ensures that the company policy on recoveries is followed and that it is in line with provincial and federal regulations.
- Negotiates with clients, lawyers, and other parties in debt collection.
- Develops strategies that support business operations and efficient department performance.
- Instructs external counsel on all aspects of litigation.
- Being a primary point of contact for other team members regarding legal issues.
- Manages and take all necessary steps to recover companies’ security relating to RSLA issues.
- Responds to OMVIC relating to customer complaints.
- Engages in conflict resolution with insurance adjusters and bank managers.
- Post-Secondary Degree, Diploma or Certificate in a relevant area of study or relevant legal designation (paralegal). A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience in automotive financing is considered an asset.
- Strong ability to problem-solve and use good sound judgment.
- Effective and strong communication skills.
- Capable of working under pressure, managing challenging situations.
- Must have the ability to multitask & prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.
- Bilingualism (English/French) an asset.

**Salary**: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
