**Summary of Duties**:
**Who you are**

You are an organized individual with excellent time management, coordination, and prioritization skills. You have keen attention to detail, can explain issues clearly, and can work positively with people of all disciplines and levels. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a hunger to learn, share, and ask questions. You are results-focused and communicate concisely and clearly.

You are a bilingual paralegal with a solid educational background and experience in providing legal support in advisory or litigation contexts. Your expertise includes conducting legal research, drafting various legal documents, and managing records efficiently. You have knowledge of Canadian legal processes, research methodologies and electronic databases, which equips you to navigate through legal information effectively. You are familiar with how legal services are provided within the federal government.

**What you’ll do**

As part of the Legal Services team you would be reporting to the General Counsel of Legal Services.

In this role you will utilize your bilingual proficiency and legal expertise to provide comprehensive paralegal support within a federal government organization.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing support on the coordination of legal files with clients
- Supporting the lawyers in Legal Services by conducting legal research and drafting legal documents and summaries
- Draft court documents (pleadings, affidavits, notices, etc.) and filing documents with the Federal Courts
- Support CNSC staff on ATIP requests
- Managing legal records and files according to the established file structure

**Essential Qualifications**:
**Education**: Diploma from an accredited paralegal program in Ontario OR successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with acceptable specialization in social science, library/archival work or a law-related field OR an acceptable combination of training and/or experience as a paralegal.

**Language Requirements**:
Bilingual imperative with proficiency at CBC level. If you are unsure of your proficiency level, we encourage you to self-assess here

**Experience**:

- Providing paralegal support in an advisory or litigation context
- Conducting legal research and analysis and preparing summaries of the results
- Drafting legal or court documents (affidavits, notices, pleadings, contracts, etc.) or preparing briefing materials.
- Managing records, such as compiling and filing court documents or tribunal records or managing legal information holdings (i.e., collections of opinions/precedents)

**Knowledge of**:

- The statutory mandate of the CNSC and of the role of a legal services within a federal government organization.
- Various research methodologies and electronic databases
