Penticton and District Society for Community Living (PDSCL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting people with diverse abilities in Penticton and surrounding communities. We provide support and services for people with intellectual disabilities, seniors, low-income adults, families and persons facing homelessness.

PDSCL is looking for a Payroll and Benefits Administrator who will produce financial data, analyze financial information and prepare bi-weekly payrolls. They will perform bookkeeping duties such as coding, recording, posting and processing day-to-day transactions. Additionally, they will maintain and process the registration, updates and termination of Employee Benefits and all related reports. This position will report directly to the Finance Manager.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- PAYROLL_
- Processes semi-monthly payroll for all employees and service recipients.
- Ensuring that all payroll changes are made accurately and in time for effected pay periods.
- Ensuring accurate processing of sick pay and vacations.
- Reviewing and reconciling semi-monthly payroll for accuracy and completeness.
- Staying current on payroll regulations, standards and work methods.
- Compiling all necessary backups and generating reporting as required.
- Prepare year-end reports, including reconciling T-4’s and transmitting files to Canada Revenue Agency.
- Codes source documents such as invoices and receipts to the appropriate accounts.
- Maintains and updates accounting records by performing duties such as recording and posting transactions in journals and the general ledger for accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Prepares and issues invoices and follows up on late accounts in accordance with established procedures. Pays approved invoices.
- Maintains bank account records; reconciles bank accounts and balances cheque books.
- Prepares various accounting summaries and reports. Compiles, maintains, and produces statistics and reports such as rent rolls and payables.
- Responds to inquiries and requests regarding payroll, accounts payable, rent payments and other bookkeeping duties. Follows up to resolve errors and discrepancies in accordance with established procedures.
- Assists the accountant or financial manager in the preparation of audits and the production of financial statements, various accounting summaries and reports and compiling statistics.
- Performs basic calculations from source documents.
- Files documents such as invoices, cheque requisitions and bills; maintains the filing system in accordance with established guidelines.
- Inputs data from source documents into computerized accounting systems or spreadsheets.
- Processes family care payments, rent rolls in a computerized environment
- Performs other related duties as required.
- BENEFITS _
- Prepare and process benefit registration for all applicable employees.
- Make Benefits package and send out to Employees through inter-office mail.
- Verifying and maintain accurate benefit enrolments and terminations and ensure these changes are logged in both the system and employee’s file.
- Ensure that changes like leave of absences, wage increases and terminations are updated on the benefits platform for employees and are done on a timely basis for cut off periods.
- Maintain, review and reconcile monthly and bi-weekly benefit reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Perform other duties as required.

**EDUCATION**

Grade 12, plus related post-secondary courses in secretarial training or office procedures.

**TRAINING & EXPERIENCE**

Two (2) years recent related experience

Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

**OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS**:

- Satisfactory Criminal Records search.
- Valid CPR/First Aid certificate
- Class 5 Drivers License.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with or without supervision.
- Ability to adhere to Code of Ethics.
- Good communication, data collecting, observation and reporting skills.
- Skills in training, planning and organizing.
- Solid philosophical belief in community inclusion.
- Knowledge of fire safety and fire equipment.

Pay: From $27.92 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
