The Department of Municipal Relations works with municipal partners to build strong and healthy communities. This includes building municipal capacity, supporting and improving community development, planning and permitting, and strengthening collaboration and shared solutions with municipalities.

Conditions of Employment:

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be willing and able to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
- Must be willing and able to travel within the province
- Must have a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's license

Qualifications:
**Essential**:

- Post secondary degree in Social Science, Finance, Public Administration, or Business Administration. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
- Extensive experience conducting research, analysis, evaluation and policy development.
- Demonstrated experience creating, managing,implementing and monitoring strategic initiatives, projects or programs.
- Strong leadership skills to build and maintain a high functioning, cohesive team.
- Ability to think critically and formulate recommendations to senior leadership and management on complex issues.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive working relationships and partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong written communication skills to prepare various documents for executive decision-makers and various audiences.
- Strong verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with various levels of audiences within the department.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision and display initiative to manage projects.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage competing and rapidly-changing priorities with strict timelines.
- Strong political acumen to navigate sensitive and confidential issues with tact and discretion.

**Duties**:
Reporting to the Director of Municipal Governance and Advisory Services, you will be responsible for the leadership and direction of a unit accountable for all major program and policy evaluation and development in the division. This includes coordination, development, and management of the legislative, policy and procedural framework which guides municipal policies, programs and issues in support of the local government, including Manitoba’s property tax system. This position also provides managerial, technical, consultation, research and analytical support to the Director and Assistant Deputy Minister. Limited travel time will be expected_._
