The Mining, Oil and Gas Branch is responsible for the development of Manitoba’s mining, oil and gas resources through the delivery of appropriate tenures and regulatory services, all of which are highly dependent on current legislation, regulations, policies and best management practices to ensure the province is positioned as a global leader in the sector and emerging critical mineral market.

Qualifications:
**Essential**:

- Post-secondary education in geological or engineering sciences, public administration or a related field (preferably at the master’s level). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience leading research, analysis and making recommendations on matters of public policy.
- Experience building relationships and collaborating with the public, communities, government officials, and non-government organizations to inform decision-making.
- Strong written communication skills with extensive experience preparing and reviewing both analytical and authority-seeking documents.
- Experience supervising, motivating or leading a team to accomplish project goals.
- Ability to handle publicly sensitive issues using appropriate political acumen.
- Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to facilitate discussions between different groups and communicating at the level of the target audience.
- Understanding and commitment to reconciliation with Indigenous peoples of Manitoba.
- Experience working in natural resources, environmental management or related field.

**Desired**:

- Experience working with Indigenous communities and governments.
