**Compensation**: $94,204- $114,133.

**Job Summary**:
The MHSU Medical Manager will have the responsibility with the MHSU Program Manager to lead Phoenix Society’s Provincial Facility-Based Treatment programs for adults, young adults and youth over the age of 17 who require live-in treatment and supports for their severe substance use and mild to moderate mental health concerns. In addition, the MHSU Manager of Medical Services oversees the medical services at Phoenix Society’s Rising Sun Villas, Aging Offender Program and Short Term Stabilization Program (Phoenix House).

The incumbent ensures that policy, procedures, protocols, programs/curriculum, and standards of care reflect best practices and are consistent with safe and effective care delivery principles. They will provide leadership to a diverse staff team that includes Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses, MOAs, HCAs and other medical staff. The manager will also ensure compliance with appropriate licensing and standards, including British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives’ Standards for Nursing Practice, Community Care and Assisted Living Act, Commission on Accreditation (CARF).

The incumbent ensures that the day-to-day operations of the service are delivered in accordance with Phoenix Society’s philosophy, policies, and procedures, and holds the safety and well-being of the people in care and staff as their priority concern. This position provides ongoing program supervision, performance coaching, education, mentoring and evaluation of all program employees, and, as a member of the MHSU Leadership Team, participates in a variety of agency initiatives and community and agency committees.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with active BC Registration Experience.
- 5+ years of management/leadership/supervisory experience preferred.
- Training and experience providing evidence-based responses to alcohol use disorder, substance use disorder and concurrent disorder.
- Experience working within or leading facility-based/residential services.
- 5+ years of experience working in the addictions/substance use treatment field.

**Other**:

- Standard First Aid - with CPR-C-AED certificate (Valid).
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training certificate preferred.
- Satisfactory completion of a criminal records checks with vulnerable sector screening1.
- Satisfactory completion of Employee Immunization Record form is required.

**Scope of Responsibilities**:
**Program Management/ Leadership**:

- Works collaboratively with the MHSU Manager of Clinical Services to lead the Facility Based Treatment staff team and monitors the day-to-day operations of the program.
- Leads the medical services and staff at Phoenix Society’s Rising Sun Villas and STAR Program (Phoenix House).
- Identifies and responds to both the physical and program needs of staff.
- Ensures that the required policies, procedures, and standards are being upheld.
- Provides leadership and guidance to staff in planning and developing service plans, case conferencing, and case management.
- Holds regular staff/team meetings to meet program and staff needs.
- Uses a participatory leadership style to fully engage employees in both program development, service delivery, and service improvement.
- Translates the strategic goals and priorities of the organization into achievable and measurable outcomes and operational plans.
- Adeptly manages competing tasks and uses time efficiently and effectively.
- Engages in research and gap analysis that support the development of new services, enhanced service options, best practices, and service coordination protocols.
- Provides nursing support to other parts of the agency, as required.
- Liaises with pharmacy services.
- Liaises with contracted health care professional services, including physicians and psychiatrists.

**Performance Quality Improvement**:

- Develops and annually updates Program Logic Models; conducts program evaluations at the end of each fiscal year.
- Develops and ensures implementation of each program’s goals and objectives.
- Develops relevant program policies, procedures, forms, etc.
- Responds to participant, family, community or employee concerns and complaints, as per policy guidelines.
- Ensures the reporting of Critical Incidents and WorkSafeBC incidents as per licensing and regulatory requirements.
- Maintains a working knowledge of all relevant program accreditation standards.
- Tracks all relevant program data and provides quarterly CQI report data.
- Actively seeks and incorporates feedback to inform continuous improvement.
