Dogs with Wings Dog Assistance Society (DWW) is a mighty non-profit agency that transforms the lives of individuals and social service agencies by providing highly trained Assistance Dogs. We are seeking a dynamic individual that can assist in coordinating and implementing integrated communications, marketing and fund development plans.
- Engage in donor cultivation and prospecting; donor recognition
- Assist with DWW giving programs
- Special projects: plan/development for monthly giving, canvassing plan/campaign
- Representing DWW at events; coordinating various events/activities, securing tangible gifts for our annual gala
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure products meet objectives and specifications, on time and within budget
- Work across the organization to provide communications support for community engagement and other external events (ie. annual gala), activating other in-person and virtual events, reporting on outcomes
- Review content and obtain approvals for web pages, newsletters, and other forms of stakeholder communication
- Generate unique story ideas and media pitches to advance the DWW’s strategic goals, connecting people to our cause with a focus on raising awareness and garnering philanthropic support
- Support the work of colleagues within the division of Development & ExternalRelations and across multiple departments (ie. prepare proposals, reports, and sponsorship updates)
- Achieve results with a commitment to a respectful and inclusive style, being a driver of change and ingenuity
- Oversee the fund development donor database (Donor Perfect) and other related platforms; conduct donor research and prospecting, identify/analyze/report on trends in giving, create cases for support, carry out donor stewardship/recognition, and ensure timely issue of income tax receipts
- Ensure the integrity of data and perform regular maintenance of donor information-Lead social media content development, prioritize content, and map social media postings
- Serve on assigned committees to oversee, develop and execute communications, marketing and development plans for small to medium sized projects
- Represent DWW at external events and conduct presentations as needed; attend public events and presentations with a DWW dog (a willingness to learn our training techniques and comfort in handling dogs is a must)

**Job Requirements**:

- Completed/In progress post-secondary diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary credential in Business, Communications/Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related discipline)
- A minimum of 1-2 years directly related experience
- Experience within a public sector or non-profit communications and/or fundraising environment is preferred

- Experience and proficiency with utilizing contemporary computer technologies (ie. TEAMS platform, Adobe Suite) and contact management databases
- Ability to work irregular hours on occasion around events and activities
- A focus to continuously improve systems, processes and practices and to recommend solutions

This full-time/summer position (2023) reports to the Associate Director, Stakeholder Relations (Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) with some irregular hours from time to time (evenings and weekends) around events and other activities. This position pays $17/hour, 35 hours per week. This job is partially funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant, which restricts applicants to between the ages of 15 to 30 years of age at the start of employment.
