Assistant Program Supervisor (HIA)

Purpose
The Assistant Program Supervisor reports to the Program Supervisor. The role is responsible for coordinating and assisting with the oversight of Hearts in Action Camps, including planning, administration, and mentoring Team Leads and Community Specialist (CS) staff. They will support program operations, and actively support the delivery team. They are integral to the success of the program by providing valuable support to families, Team Leads, CS and ultimately furthering the organizational vision. The conscientious Assistant Supervisor will act with integrity, be open to growth, live our purpose, cultivate teamwork, and put forth an extraordinary effort to empower people with diverse abilities and their families to grow, succeed, and belong.

Key Functions
- Supervise, support, and provide mentorship front-line seasonal staff within the department
- Assists with seasonal event operations
- Foster genuine relationships promoting dignity, personal interests and identities
- Empower people to create meaningful days and achieve their goals
- Communicate effectively with integrity to staff, individuals, families and co-workers
- Perform other job-related activities, as required

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum education requirement of High School Diploma with a minimum of 6-8 years of related experience; a diploma or certificate in Disability Services, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field with 3-5 years of related experience; or a University Degree in Disability Services, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field with 2-3 years of related experience.
- Minimum 2 year of supervisory experience working with individuals with complex behaviors
- Alignment with AdaptAbilities’ core purpose and core values
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to remain calm in emotionally challenging situations and effectively use empathy
- Strong organizational skills and problem-solving abilities
- Flexible, comfortable working independently and collaborating as part of a team
- Clean class 5 driver’s license and vehicle is required
- Clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check
- Standard First Aid Certification CPR Level C and AED is required
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol are an asset

Working Conditions
This is a seasonal full-time position from May 29, 2023 to September 1, 2023. Shifts are scheduled between 7:30 am - 6:00 pm from Monday to Friday. This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant from the Government of Canada, which requires that the employee must be between 15 and 30 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. International students are not eligible.

**Compensation**: $27.02 to $28.61 per hour depending on experience and education
