IT Systems Documentation Specialist

As we modernize and streamline our IT infrastructure, we seek a skilled **IT Systems Documentation Specialist** to assist in organizing, documenting, and enhancing our legacy systems and in-house software. This role is essential for ensuring a clear and functional understanding of our IT systems for current and future teams.
The IT Systems Documentation Specialist will collaborate closely with IT staff and system users to develop comprehensive documentation for AutoShack’s IT systems. This onsite role requires a hands-on professional who can analyze current systems, map processes, and create clear, user-friendly manuals and guides.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Evaluate and document existing legacy systems and in-house software, including workflows, data flows, and system architecture.
- Identify gaps in existing documentation and provide detailed, accurate updates to ensure full system coverage.
- Develop user manuals, troubleshooting guides, and operational workflows tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Create detailed diagrams illustrating system interdependencies using tools such as Visio or Lucidchart.
- Collaborate with IT teams and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and validate accuracy.
- Propose best practices for ongoing documentation updates and maintenance.
- Recommend strategies for maintaining robust, accessible, and up-to-date IT documentation.
**Qualifications**:
- Proven experience in IT documentation, technical writing, or systems analysis, particularly with legacy and custom-built systems.
- Strong understanding of IT systems, system architecture, and software development life cycles (SDLC).
- Proficiency in documentation tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Confluence, or SharePoint.
- Expertise in creating technical diagrams using Visio, Lucidchart, or similar software.
- Excellent organizational, writing, and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with databases, APIs, and legacy systems is an asset.
- e-commerce industry experience is a plus but not required.
**Requirements**:
- **Education**: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- **Experience**: Minimum of 3-5 years in IT documentation or technical writing roles.
- **Skills**:
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to translate technical jargon into clear language.
- Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work onsite and effectively interact with IT staff and cross-functional teams.
