**Position**

The Research Coordinator provides laboratory related assistance to the research group (technicians, post docs, graduate students) under the guidance of the Principal Investigator. The research lab has a translational program that focuses on studying the effect of electrical stimulation on modifying the electrophysiological, biomechanical, and clinical states of neurological injury of the spinal cord.

The position supports current experimentation involving longitudinal exercise training interventions in combination with neuromodulation to understand spinal circuitry and walking rehabilitation. The position also requires an understanding of biomechanical aspects of gait, physiotherapy assessments of gait in persons with neurological injury or impairment (walking speed and endurance tests, balance tests, spinal cord injury assessments), and the basic neuroscience involved in spinal cord injury.

**Duties**

Administrative duties (20%)
- Report to the Principal Investigator providing administrative support for research and clinical studies
- Maintain program database and research study databases
- Data entry
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Management of the Rehabilitation Innovations Core Calendar
- Scheduling study participants
- Coordinating with the SMART Network for tours and events
- Coordinate orientation and ongoing development of junior research team members (summer students, undergraduate students, graduate students and trainee positions). Ensure trainees are compliant with ethics and protocol procedures within research program as needed

Research (80%)
- Reviews and adheres to multiple research protocols
- Organizes hardcopy and computer files related to ongoing studies
- Assist systematic reviews by screening and extracting data from research articles
- Responsible for daily exercise training with participants with spinal cord injury.
- Performs several common electrophysiological tests including motor evoked potentials and Hoffman reflexes.
- Provides training with various equipment to other lab members when necessary
- Provides project coordination on several projects through assisting with project design, project development and tracking, and identifying problems arising for further discussion
- Presents data at regular laboratory meetings and prepares data for publications
- Conducts data analyses and interpretation with all relevant data types
- Works with other laboratory staff to ensure a safe, secure, and clean laboratory environment by adhering to guidelines.
- Ensures accurate and timely record keeping (eg Laboratory book, Microsoft Word and Excel)
- Performs other activities as required

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Honours Neuroscience or related field
- 2-3 years of electrophysiology laboratory experience
- Experience with patient interaction and administration of questionnaires, dealing with patients, responding to study-related questions
- Experience in data management

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Familiar with retrieving patient information from patient charts
- Intermediate level competency with MS Office (Word and Excel) and Adobe
- Excellent organizational, analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills
