Position: Payroll/HRIS Manager
Southbridge Health Care LP (Southbridge) is currently looking to add a talented Payroll/HRIS Manager to our amazing corporate finance team at our head office in Cambridge, ON. Member of a five-person team and reporting to the Payroll Director.
Southbridge is the owner and operator of long-term care homes and retirement communities in Ontario. Southbridge’s mission is to operate a best-in-class portfolio of care homes and retirement communities that consistently deliver excellence in care and services in an economically sustainable manner.
**Responsibilities**:
- Act as the key contact with the third-party retirement and benefits provider, overseeing the automated remittance and upload processes, including improving processing of information via excel macros.
- Act as the key member for processing Union dues, helping to further automated remittance and upload processes.
- Help the payroll function across a portfolio of homes via Ceridian Dayforce (including Ceridian Managed Services)
- Develop and continuously review payroll policies and procedures
- Work closely with head office payroll staff to ensure accuracy, and assist in resolving issues
- Assist year end audit procedures as they relate to Payroll
- Assist year end processes for tax reporting (T4s), and discrepancies (PIER)
- Assist government reporting and manage all remittances (e.g. EHT, garnishment, etc.)
- Assist payroll related functions related to unions, ensuring collective agreements are accurately captures (including retro pay), and remittance of dues, for various unions
- Assist head office in reconciliation of payroll, working closely with the finance team to resolve any issues
- Continuously stay informed on Ontario payroll legislation (as well as specific requirements related to Long Term Care)
- Act as a key contact with the third-party payroll provider to resolve issues and ensure accuracy
- Assist in the communicate with third party payroll provider for all relevant payroll tax matters
- Ad hoc reporting, as required
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a payroll analyst or similar role
- Strong Excel skills including the ability to write and use macros
- Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws
- Understanding of multi-location payroll and taxes an asset
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce is considered an asset
- Familiarity with payroll software (e.g. SAP, Ceridian, Kronos)
- A keen eye for detail
- An analytical mind and good math skills
- Communication skills (written and oral) an asset
BSc/BA in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field; professional certification (e.g. CPP, CPM) is a plus
