**Position: Policy Analyst**
**Permanent - Full Time**

Location: EDMONTON

Office Hours: Mon - Fri, 8 am - 4 pm

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

**Responsibilities include the following**:

- Provide support to policy team with data collection, analysis, reports, and outreach materials
- Assist with policy briefs, presentations, and responses to government on consultations and reports, new bills, and legislative changes, etc.
- Represent Alberta Canola with interactions at all levels of government, with industry, board of directors, farmers, and the public

**Qualifications**:Bachelor’s degree Political Science, Agricultural Economics, International Relations with the following competencies:

- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat
- Strong organizational, research, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Effective interpersonal skills including positive attitude, professionalism, diplomacy, and sensitivity to industry concerns
- Familiarity with governance and public policy and issues affecting agriculture
- Ability work independently or as part of a team, and manage time effectively
- _An understanding of Alberta’s agriculture industry and cropping sector is desirable_
- _A valid driver's license_

**Closing date: July 17, 2023**

Alberta Canola is a farmer elected and directed crop commission representing over 13,000 canola growers in Alberta. We are funded by our members through a refundable check-off to support the long-term success of canola farmers in Alberta through research, extension, public engagement, and advocacy.
