**Position Summary**

**This is a Hybrid position (home/onsite - a minimum of 3 days per week in the office).**

Thales is looking for a **Project Security Advisor** will support various projects from a government security compliance perspective. This individual shall be able to demonstrate sound judgement and be able to anticipate risks to projects and timelines when obtaining government security approval when subcontracting services which include security requirements specific to the Project.

Government Security Compliance support will involve other Thales Units and suppliers external to Thales. External customers would primarily be Government of Canada.

**Key Areas of Responsibility**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepare and maintain project security plans outlining all government security regulations specific to the project.
- Stay apprised of the evolution of the project by attending various internal and external reviews, meeting, etc.
- Establish and maintain resource lists for the project to ensure all personnel are cleared appropriately based on their role.
- Develop Security Requirement Check Lists (SRCL) specific to subcontractors for the Project.
- Process Requests for Visits (RFVs) and oversee the procedures for internal visitors.
- Advise of project physical security requirements, ensure they are taken into account within the facility and that they continuously meet the appropriate security guidelines set out by the Contract Security Program (CSP).
- Coordinate the tracking, storage and delivery of outgoing and incoming classified documentation.
- Perform regular audits to ensure all areas of corporate and government security programs are being adhered to.
- Support the Security Manager as required when audits are performed by Group and Government bodies.
- Inspections: Physical Security, Document Safeguarding, IT, COMSEC and Controlled Goods.
- Provide ongoing basic education and awareness to employees.
- Monitor risks, escalate issues and propose action plans or solutions.
- Liaise with contractor(s) working on security equipment and ensure the contractual conformity of their performance.
- Act as an Alternate Company Security Officer (ACSO).
- Act as a Designated Official (DO).
- Participate in the preparation of bids and proposal packages following the internal bid process.
- Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members that allows for cohesiveness, support, and working effectively together to enable each employee and the department to succeed.
- Flexibility of hours, as on-call after hours may be required.

**Minimum Requirements**

**Education/Certifications**:
College diploma/certificate and/or university degree in a related field (Security Management, Police Foundations, etc.) and/or equivalent experience as noted below.

**Technical**:

- 4+ years industry experience (defense and/or government, as a CSO, ACSO and/or DO).
- Working knowledge of all components of the Contract Security Program (CSP), Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Joint Certification Program (JCP) and US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
- Working knowledge of Government of Canada Security policies, procedures and guidelines (Standard on Security Screening, Government Security Policy, and applicable RCMP security guides, etc).
- Working knowledge of Physical, IT, Personnel and Contractual Security.
- Working knowledge of the Security of Information Act (formerly the Official Secrets Act).
- Working knowledge of various security systems (Access Controls, Video Management and Intrusion Alarms).
- Should have a very good working knowledge with Microsoft Office and Adobe.
- Some travel may be required.
- Possibility of participation in rotating ‘on-call’ duties (7/24/365).
- Willingness to be appointed as a Designated Official (DO) under the CGP.
- Willingness to be appointed as an Alternate Company Security Officer (ACSO) under the CSP.
