**About Our Opportunity**:
We are hiring an EDIA Intern to join our Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion division, and your fresh perspectives, ideas, and energy will contribute to the ongoing work in our unit.
As our Intern, you will gain extensive knowledge of the public sector, government decision-making and communications, and other concepts. This is the perfect opportunity to showcase your creative abilities in a diverse environment that fosters collaboration and incorporates your feedback to enhance our services.
In this role you will report to the Senior Advisor, Diversity Inclusion and Engagement of the unit and will provide support and assistance for activities related to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA) initiatives, programs, and strategies.
**Primary Accountabilities**:
Contribute to and deliver projects and programs that support the departments EDIA goals.
Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of EDIA-related programs, workshops, and events.
Coordinate and support the facilitation of workshops, events, and strategy meetings and create supporting materials and presentations.
Research and report on EDIA trends and best practices on other jurisdictions.
Collaborate with team members, IDEA Council and other department employees on multiple projects and initiatives related to EDIA.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
The following skills and experiences are considered essential:
You must have graduated from a post-secondary institute, such as a university, community college or recognized trade school within the past three (3) years
- Have a background in public administration or social sciences field;
- Experience conducting research and analysis;
- Strong written and verbal communication capabilities;
- Capacity to manage various tasks while maintaining task deadlines and multiple competing priorities; and Knowledge of issues relating to various equity groups.The following skills and experiences are considered assets but not required:
- Experience in change management initiatives; and
- Knowledge of and/or experience with program development; and Basic knowledge of the Department of Public WorksAdditionally, you are an individual looking to actively contribute to an innovative environment. You demonstrate the value of a diverse, respectful, and inclusive workforce in your work experience.
It is important you also demonstrate an understanding of the barriers and impact associated with systemic racism, as well as a thorough understanding of bias, inclusion, equity, and discrimination.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

**Additional Information**:
Your work is primarily in an open office environment. Your normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.
